Patrick KEARNEY (Caution: not verified) [Parents] was born about 1850 in prob Kilbaha, Moyvane, Co. Kerry. He married Margaret (Maggie) 'UNKNOWN'.

It's purely an assumption that Patrick was a son of "our" Daniel Kearney and Ellen Cunningham, but for the following reasons it's a possibility:

1. Our Kearneys came from Kilbaha, and the only Kearney households in the whole of Kilbaha in the 1901 census were for those of Patrick "Carney" aged 50 and Daniel "Carney" aged 45 (Kearney and Carney are interchangeable), both from Kilbaha North. Daniel is definitely "ours" and, given that there was only one Kearney listed for Kilbaha in Griffiths Valuation (1853) - Daniel Kearney in Kilbaha North - and the fact that Patrick and Daniel are close in age, it seems likely that they're brothers, and that they may be sons of Daniel from Griffiths Valuation.

2. The practice in Ireland at that time was to name the first-born son after his paternal grandfather. It can be seen from the 1901 census that the oldest son listed for Patrick's household was named Daniel, indicating that Patrick's father's name was Daniel. Of course it can't be assumed that Patrick followed this tradition or that Daniel was actually his first-born son.

Note: In the 1911 census, Patrick and his wife, Maggie, are listed with their children, Mary, John, Johanna, Myles, Bridget and Laurence (Bridget and Laurence having been born after the 1901 census).
