All Families and Individuals

Michael O'HARA [Parents] was born about 1841 in prob Clegna, Cootehall, Co. Roscommon. He died about 1921 in Moigh, Cootehall, Co. Roscommon. Michael married Brigid HOGG on 23 Apr 1868 in Cootehall, Co. Roscommon.

Michael farmed at Moigh in Cootehall.

Further information on the descendants of Michael and his wife, Brigid Hogg, is available from Niall McCormick, a great-grandson of theirs, who has put his family tree on the Genes Reunited and Ancestry websites (www.genesreunited.co.uk and www.ancestry.co.uk respectively). Niall can be contacted at niallmccormick@talktalk.net.

Brigid HOGG [Parents] was born May 1851 in Cootehall, Co. Roscommon. She died 1931 in Moigh, Cootehall, Co. Roscommon. Brigid married Michael O'HARA on 23 Apr 1868 in Cootehall, Co. Roscommon.

At the time of the death of Brigid's mother-in-law Honoria O'Hara (née Lavin) in 1896 Brigid and Michael were living in Lake View, Cootehall. They were still in Lake View at the time of the untimely death of their daughter Annie in 1901.

Hogg researchers may also be interested in baptismal records found for a Josephine Hogg and a Patrick Hogg, children of James Hogg and Joanna Flynn of Cootehall. Josephine was baptised on 30 April 1843 with sponsors James Moraghan and Brigid Flynn, and Patrick was baptised on 5 July 1845 with sponsors Michael Tansey and Brigid Doyle. James was the name of the father of Brigid Hogg, above, so it's possible Josephine and Patrick could have been siblings of Brigid. We also know of a John Hogg in Cootehall who could have been a been a brother of Josephine and Patrick and/or Brigid. John married a Johanna O'Farrell and they had a son, Andrew, in 1878. Descendants of Mary 'Mud' O'Hara (1863-1941) remember a relative of hers named Andrew Hogg (who served in the RIC), so it seems likely that the Andrew born in 1878 was connected to her, possibly being the husband of her niece Mary Jane O'Hara (born 1882).
