We're sure that Dan Kennelly was married to a Kate Thornton from Kilbaha whose father's name was James. However we cannot say for certain that Kate was a daughter of our Jim Thornton and his wife, Norrie, although Jim's children and Kate were born in Kilbaha around the same time. My own feeling is that Kate was indeed a daughter of Jim and Norrie.

A baptismal record has been located (on www.irishgenealogy.ie) for a Catherine Shine, daughter of Daniel Shine and Mary Mulvihill of Kilbaha, who was baptised in Moyvane on 15 October 1836. This date fits in with the approximate year of birth of Catherine above, calculated from her age given in the 1911 census, so it's a possibility that Catherine above and the Catherine baptised in October 1836 are the same person. However Shine was a common surname in Kilbaha at the time so we would need further evidence to prove this.

According to the 1911 census, Catherine and her husband, William Foran, had been married 40 years and had five children born alive, four of whom were alive at the time of the census.

They had the following children:

F i Mary FORAN was born about 1873.
  M ii
Michael FORAN was born about 1874 in Moyvane village, Co. Kerry.
