Maria CREGAN was born in Co. Limerick. She married John MCENERY in U.S..

Jeremiah MCENERY [Parents] was born 5 Aug 1883 in Tubbertureen, Moyvane, Co. Kerry and was christened 7 Aug 1883 in Moyvane, Co. Kerry. He married 'UNKNOWN'.

Sponsors at Jeremiah's baptism were John McEnery and Mary McEnery.

'UNKNOWN' married Jeremiah MCENERY.

Michael MCENERY died date uinknown. He married 'UNKNOWN'.

Michael farmed in Leitrim West, Moyvane, Co. Kerry.

John DOWER [Parents] was born about 14 Jun 1790 in probably Gortnagloss, Templeglantine, Co. Limerick and was christened 14 Jun 1790. He died in probably Moyvane South (Shronagraga), Co. Kerry. John married 'UNKNOWN'.

John moved from Templeglantine to Newtownsandes in neighbouring Co. Kerry where he married a local girl. They and their family lived in the townland of Moyvane South (also called Shronagraga) in Newtownsandes parish.

'UNKNOWN' died date unknown. She married John DOWER.

John's wife was from Newtownsandes.

Maurice DOWER [Parents] was born about 1758 in Gortnagloss, Templeglantine, Co. Limerick. He married Mary DOWER on 1782.

There was a Maurice Dower of Gortnagloss who settled in the parish of Killeedy (also spelled Kileedy), near Newcastlewest, sometime in the early years of the 18th century, who may have been a son of Maurice above (we are aware of only two sons, Robert and James, listed below). The information on the Maurice Dower of Kileedy comes from photo of a handwritten family tree on the 'Moyvane and District' page of Jer Kennelly's online album collection (see Links page on this website) which tells us the following:

"Myles or Sean Cunningham settled in Killeedy [near Newcastlewest], Co. Limerick and on 19th Jan. 1851 married Eliz. Dore of [what looks like] Darrery [a townland in Kileedy]whose grandfather, Maurice Dower, had come down to Killeedy from Gortnagloss about the same time as James Dower [son of Maurice above] moved to Newtownsandes. Maurice and James may have been brothers".

Note: I have located a marriage record for Elizabeth Dore of Killeedy above. Howeve she married an Oliver Cunnningam, not Myles or Sean Cunningham. The marriage, which took place in Killeedy on 28 February 1951, was witnessed by John Regan and James Mullane.

Mary DOWER died date unknown. She married Maurice DOWER on 1782.

Mary and her husband were cousins. It's likely they had more children than those listed below.

James DOWER [Parents] was born in probably Moyvane South (Shronagraga), Co. Kerry. He died in probably Rathoran, Kilmeany, Knockanure, Co. Kerry. James married Ellen O'CONNOR.

James was only 48 years of age when he died.

Ellen O'CONNOR [Parents] was born in Rathoran, Kilmeany, Knockanure, Co. Kerry. She died in probably Rathoran, Kilmeany, Knockanure, Co. Kerry. Ellen married James DOWER.

Ellen's father Richard give her and her husband 54 areas of land in Rathoran.

Richard DOWER [Parents] was born about 1824 in probably Moyvane South (Shronagraga), Co. Kerry. He died 11 Dec 1908 and was buried in Duagh Cemetery, Co. Kerry. Richard married Johanna MCENERY.

Johanna MCENERY was born 4 May 1836 in probably Shanavaugha, Knocknagoshel, Co. Kerry. She died 20 Jun 1927 and was buried in Duagh Cemetery, Co. Kerry. Johanna married Richard DOWER.
