According to the 1939 Register Thomas was a stoker in a food factory. At the time he and his family were living at 38 Edward Street, Ladybarn, Manchester (close to Thomas's family home at 6 Edward St.)

Ivy RIGBY was born on 23 Jul 1907. She died. Ivy married Thomas GORDON in 1928 in Manchester.

John GORDON [Parents] was born on 18 Jul 1909 in Ladybarn, Withington, Manchester. He died. John married Annie 'UNKNOWN'.

John is listed as an "engineer's storekeeper" in the 1939 Register. He was 30 years of age at the time, single, and living in the family home on Edward St., Ladybarn. Later, he and his wife, Annie, ran a corner shop, presumably in Manchester.

Annie 'UNKNOWN' died. Annie married John GORDON.

Patrick GORDON [Parents] was born about 19 Feb 1856 in probably Frenchpark, Co. Roscommon. He was christened on 19 Feb 1856 in Loughglynn, Co. Roscommon. He died in probably 17 July 1910 in Castlerea, Co. Roscommon. Patrick married Catherine 'UNKNOWN' (caution: not verified) about 1881.

Patrick inherited the family farm in Kilgarriff, Fairymount (known as Tibohine back then), Co. Roscommon.

A granddaughter of Patrick, named Kathleen and who lives in Ireland (we have no further information), recalls being told that her Gordon family was Scottish by origin, two brothers having left Scotland and settled in Kilgarriff (date unknown). This ties in with the story told in my husband's family, that their ancestor John Gordon (c.1750-1801) left Scotland and settled in Kilgarriff. Given the Kilgarriff connection and the popularity of the first name Cormac in both my husband's family and that of Patrick above, it is almost certain that both families are related. The fathest back we can trace in both families is to Patrick's grandfather John Gordon (born around the 1780s or 1790s) who lived in Fairymount, and to my husband's great-great-great-grandfather John Gordon (born c.1750 in Scotland). Could Patrick's grandfather John Gordon have been a son of Scottish-born John Gordon? Although we know of just two sons of the Scottish John and they were named Patrick and either Cormac or Thomas, John may also have had another son named John. Any help in clarifying the connection between the two families would be very welcome. Please email Helen@HelensFamilyTrees.com.

A Patrick Gordon of Kilgarriff who died on 17 July 1910 and left his estate (valued at £92 10s) to his wife, Catherine, is likely to have been Patrick above.

Catherine 'UNKNOWN' (caution: not verified) was born about 1857 in Co. Roscommon. Catherine married Patrick GORDON about 1881.

A Catherine Rogers married a Patrick Gordon in Castlerea, Co. Roscommon in 1881. It is possible therefore that Catherine above was Catherine Rogers.

Patrick (Pat) GORDON (caution: not verified) was born about 1885 in Kilgarriff, Fairymount, Co. Roscommon.

A Patrick Gordon from Kilgarriff emigrated to the United States in September 1909 aged 23. According to the ship manifest this Patrick was born in Kilgarriff and was joining his sister, Mary Gordon, in Brooklyn. His nearest relative in Ireland is given as Pat Gordon, Kilgarriff, Castlerea. However, our Pat does not seem to have had a sister named Mary, although he could have had, as our list of Pat's siblings is derived solely from the 1901 and 1911 censuses.
