Clement worked as a stained glass artist. He moved to Youghal in the late 19th century, possibly to work for Michael Joseph Cunningham Buckley who had worked with Clement's brother Alex in London and who had set up a branch of his stained glass business in Youghal.

At the time of the 1901 census of Ireland, the widowered Clement was living on Friar St. in Youghal, Co. Cork with his 25-year-old daughter, Theresa. There is no trace of Clement or Theresa in the 1911 census although he spent the rest of his life in Youghal. He died in 1929 aged 85 at his home, 1 Gibraltar Terrace.

From Guy's Postal Directory of 1914 we know that Theresa was living on Friar St. in Youghal, Co. Cork in that year. By the time of her death aged about 79 in 1954 she was living on Upper Strand in Youghal. Her occupation on her death certificate reads "guest house proprietress".

Michael HARNETT [Parents] was born about 1865 in Co. Limerick. He died in Nov 1939. Michael married Mary MCCARTHY on 11 Feb 1899 in Abbeyfeale, Co. Limerick.

We know the name of Michael and his wife, Mary, from the U.S. marriage certificate of their daughter Kitty who married my relative Martin Monahan in 1927. We were then able to find out more about Kitty and her family. The information below on the children of Michael and Mary comes mainly from the 1911 census and the Irish Genealogy and Ellis Island websites.

From the 1911 census we kmow that Michael, Mary and their family were living in Dromtrasna South (equivalent to Dromtrasna O'Brien?) in Abbeyfeale. Michael and Mary had been married for 12 years and had 10 children, all of whom were alive at the time of the census. Going back 10 years, the 1901 census tells us that Michael and Mary were living in Dromtrasna South at that time with Michael's 80-year-old widowed mother, Margaret. Margaret, who was born in Co. Kerry, presumably died before the 1911 census.

Mary MCCARTHY [Parents] was born about 1872 in Co. Limerick. She died after Nov 1939. Mary married Michael HARNETT on 11 Feb 1899 in Abbeyfeale, Co. Limerick.

Mary was from Dromtrasna O'Brien, Abbeyfeale, Co. Limerick, as was her her husband, Michael.

One of Mary and Michael's daughters married a John Enright and lived in Purt, Abbeyfeale, but we do not know which daughter.

They had the following children.

F i Mary HARNETT was born in probably 4 Feb 1900. She died.
  F ii
Margaret HARNETT was born on 20 Nov 1900 in Dromtrasna O'Brien, Abbeyfeale, Co. Limerick. She died.

Margaret and Hannie were twins.

  M iv
John HARNETT was born on 15 Apr 1902 in Dromtrasna O'Brien, Abbeyfeale, Co. Limerick. He died.
F v Catherine (Kitty) HARNETT was born on 1 Jul 1903. She died in probably early 1950s.
  F vi
Bridget HARNETT was born on 1 Nov 1904 in Dromtrasna O'Brien, Abbeyfeale, Co. Limerick. She died in probably U.S..

Bridget and her younger sister Ellen emigrated to the United States together in 1927. Immigration records show that a 22-year-old Bridget Harnett and an 18-year-old Ellen Harnett from Dromtrasna O'Brien (could this be another name for Dromtrasna South?), Abbeyfeale travelled together to New York, arriving on 17 February 1927.

A Bridgie Harnett was a witness to the marriage of Kitty Harnett (Bridget's sister) to Martin Monahan in April 1927. This is likely to be Bridget.

Daniel (Dan) Patrick HARNETT was born on 17 Jul 1906 in Dromtrasna O'Brien, Abbeyfeale, Co. Limerick. He died on 17 Sep 1987 in probably Mobile, Alabama. He was buried in Catholic Cemetery, Mobile, Alabama.

Dan attended Mungret College in Co. Limerick after which he studied for the priesthood at the American College in Rome where it is thought he was ordained. He moved to the United States in 1932 and became a U.S. citizen in 1938, at which time he was living in Mobile, Alabama. We know he was pastor (parish priest) of St. Catherine's parish, Mobile from 1942 until 1959 and of St. Mary's parish, Mobile from 1972 until 1982 (we do not know where he served between 1959 and 1972). Dan was buried in Mobile so we are assuming he served most, if not all, of his life in the U.S. in Mobile.

Nora entered the convent, joining the Sisters of Charity order and becoming Sr. Michael Francis. She worked as a nurse in Beaumont, Texas and may also have served in Long Beach, Califonia in the 1960s.

One of Nora's sisters also became a nun, becoming Sr. Agnes Regina, and lived in the U.S. It is believed she was a member of the same order as Nora and may also have served in Texas. However we do not know which sister became Sr. Agnes Regina.

At the time of his naturalization in 1947 he was living in Jefferson, Texas any by 1952 he was in Houston, Texas.
