John (Jack) Joseph HANRAHAN [Parents] was born on 4 Sep 1881 in Kilbaha, Moyvane, Co. Kerry. He was christened on 4 Sep 1881 in Moyvane, Co. Kerry. He died on 2 Apr 1965 in San Diego, California. John married Margaret B. QUIGLEY on 9 Sep 1914 in El Paso, Texas.

Jack's baptismal sponsors were Patrick Kearney and Catherine Buckley.

Jack emigrated to the United States in 1900 and settled in El Paso, Texas.

According to his World War I Draft Registration Card, dated 12 September 1918, Jack was living in El Paso and working as an "outside manager" at the American Laundry Company. El Paso City Directories tell us that Jack and his wife, Margaret, were still in El Paso in 1927 and 1932 and owned or worked at Royal Cleaners & Dyers. By 1940, according to the census of that year, Jack was working as "hotel police".

Jack died in California in 1965 but we do not know if he had actually moved there.

Margaret B. QUIGLEY was born about 1884 in Ireland. Margaret married John (Jack) Joseph HANRAHAN on 9 Sep 1914 in El Paso, Texas.

Margaret emigrated to the United States in 1900 and settled in El Paso, Texas where she worked for a time as a nurse.

In the 1940 census Margaret is listed as the sole member of her household. She owned her own home, located at 2931 Alameda Avenue, El Paso, and worked in the laundry business.

John GORDON [Parents] was born about 10 Jul 1879 in Kilgarriff, Fairymount, Co. Roscommon. He was christened on 10 Jul 1879 in Fairymount, Co. Roscommon?. He died in 1948 in California. John married 'UNKNOWN' in U.S..

John emigrated to the United States and lived in California. Unfortunately, contact with the family was lost and we have no further information on John, although it is believed he married and had a son.

There is confusion as to John's exact date of birth. According to the family, he was born on 12 June 1878. And according to records as transcribed by the Co. Roscommon Heritage and Genealogy Company, he was born on 2 August 1879 and baptised on 10 July 1879. Very often, the date on a baptismal record is a more accurate indication of a date of birth than the date on an actual birth record. This is because baptisms, which usually took place a day or two after birth, were registered at the time, whereas births were often registered a couple of months after the event, by which time the exact birth date was often forgotten. Another explantion is that John Gordon who was born on 12 June 1878 died as an infant and his parents had another son on 10 July 1879 whom they named John.

'UNKNOWN' died. 'UNKNOWN' married John GORDON in U.S..
