James and his wife, Mary, emigrated from England to New Zealand with their young family in the mid- to late 1890s. James had been a grocer in England and worked as a timber contractor in Coromandel, New Zealand.

Mary Celia WREFORD was born in 1856 in Torpoint, Cornwall. She died in Jul 1945 in Coromandel, New Zealand. She was buried on 12 Jul 1945 in Buffalo Cemetery, Coromandel, New Zealand. Mary married James Henry HOYLE in 1875 in Torpoint, Cornwall.

Celia Eliza HOYLE was born in 1878 in Plymouth, Devon.

No evidence has been found to suggest that Celia ever lived in New Zealand, indicating that she may have died as a child back in  England. However, no English death record could be located for Celia.

Celia is not listed with her family in the 1891 census of England. However, a Celia E. Hoyle of the right age is listed in the 1891 census as a member of the household of an Annie Philp in Devonport. Annie was a widow aged 53, and listed with her is 29-year old Laura Hicks who is described, strangely, as the wife of the head of the household, i.e., Annie. Perhaps Laura was the wife of the owner of the house who happened to be away from home on the night of the census? On the census return Celia is listed as Annie's daughter, which could be true, but given the Devonport location and Celia's age, it could be that Celia, daughter of James Hoyle and Mary Wreford, was being raised by another family in Devonport and never went to New Zealand with the rest of her family.

Harold's parents were from Torpoint in Cornwall but had moved to the neighbouring county of Devon where Harold and his siblings were all born and where Harold's father worked as a grocer. When the children were very young, the family emigrated to New Zealand and settled in Coromandel where Harold's father worked as a timber contractor.

Harold followed his father into the timber business, eventually setting up his own sawmill in Thames. He died in 1933, aged 51, following an accident at the mill.

Kathleen COWAN died. Kathleen married Harold Henry HOYLE.

After she was widowed Kathleen lived in Hamilton, New Zealand.

Arthur Leo Patrick BOYLE [Parents] was born about 1907 in Thames, New Zealand. He died on 13 Feb 1989. He was buried in Totara Cemetery, Thames, New Zealand. Arthur married Olga Edith HOYLE in 1933.

Arthur's paternal grandparents were born in Ireland.

Olga Edith HOYLE [Parents] was born in 1909 in Thames, New Zealand. She died in 1991 in Thames, New Zealand. Olga married Arthur Leo Patrick BOYLE in 1933.

Daniel worked as a mill hand. It is thought that he was from Coromandel. He died at the age of about 54.
