James DOODY [Parents] was born about 18 Jul 1856 in Knockainy or Galbally, Co. Limerick and was christened 18 Jul 1856 in Galbally, Co. Limerick. He married Margaret 'UNKNOWN'.

Sponsors at James' baptism were James Connell and Mary Hennessy.

There's a 1901 census return for the household of a James Doody in Ardnamoher in Galbally (the only return for a Doody household in Ardnamoher). This James Doody is probably our James given (a) the location, (b) the fact that his age (40 in 1901) ties in roughly with the date of birth of our James, (c) that his elder son in the census return is named Michael (possibly following the tradition at the time of naming the eldest son after the paternal grandfather), and (d) that both Jameses had a mother named Johanna (Johanna being listed as James's mother in the census return). The names and approximate years of birth of James' wife and children below are taken from the census returns.

Margaret 'UNKNOWN' was born about 1864 in Co. Tipperary. She married James DOODY.

James and Margaret may have had additional daughter to those listed below: a Margaret Doody of Ardnamoher in Galbally died on 10 December 1991 (and is buried in Clonbeg Cemetery in Galbally). She is surely related to our Doody family. Could she be a daughter of James and Margaret?

Jim O'SULLIVAN [Parents] was born in Kilquane, Mourneabbey, Co. Cork. He died in Australia and was buried in Sydney, Australia. Jim married Peg 'UNKNOWN'.

Margaret HANLEY [Parents] was born early 1950s. She died 1970s in Dublin. Margaret married 'UNKNOWN'.

Danny MURPHY was born in Ballyhillogue, Grenagh, Co. Cork. He died date unknown. Danny married Mary (Big Mary) SULLIVAN.

There's a record of the marriage of a Mary Sullivan and a Daniel Murphy in Grenagh on 26 April 1857. Witnesses were John Healy and John Denahy. However there's no proof that the marriage related to our Mary and Danny, especially since our Mary's home parish would have been Mourneabbey, not Grenagh (marriages usually took place in the bride's parish).

There's also a record of the baptism of a William Murphy, son of Daniel Murphy and Mary Sullivan, in Grenagh on 8 March 1858. Presumably William's parents were Mary and Daniel above who married in April 1857. Sponsors at the baptism were Michael Murphy and Elizabeth Sullivan.

Further information for Murphy researchers comes from the 1901 census return for the household of Daniel Murphy, a 57-year-old farmer from Ballymorrisheen in Grenagh. The only other family member listed is Daniel's daughter Catherine, aged 21. It's a possibility Daniel could be our Danny above. I'm told our Danny and Mary lived in either Ballyknockane in Mourneabbey or Ballyhillogue in Grenagh, but no census returns were found for any Daniel Murphy in Mourneabbey. Note that Ballyhillogue now seems to be part of Mourneabbey rather than Grenagh parish.

Mary (Big Mary) SULLIVAN [Parents] was born in Caheraveelane, Kilshannig; or Glynn, Mourneabbey. She died date unknown. Mary married Danny MURPHY.

It's thought Séamus had a daughter named Mary who married a man by the name of Murphy from Ballyhillogue in Grenagh (although Ballyhillogue now seems to be in the parish of Mourneabbey).
