3. Thomas CAREW (Edmond ) was born about 14 Jan 1813 in Soloheadbeg area, Co. Tipperary and was christened 14 Jan 1813 in Solohead, Co. Tipperary. He died before 1878 in prob. Newfoundland, Canada.

The sponsor at Thomas's baptism was John Whelan. There was no other sponsor listed.

Thomas emigrated to Newfoundland.

Thomas married Mary 'UNKNOWN'.

It's known that Mary was living in Charlottestown, Prince Edward Island, in 1878.

There's evidence of the existence of a man named Daniel (presumably from Newfoundland) who was somehow blood-related to the family of Thomas and Mary. Perhaps he was a son or grandson. Was his name Daniel Carew or Daniel Grant, or something else? He became a "finished captain" about 1874 and married an Englishwoman by the name of Moran in August 1878.

Margaret was living with her mother in Charlottestown, Prince Edward Island, in 1878. She was younger than Mary.

4. John CAREW (Edmond ) was born about 4 May 1815 in Soloheadbeg area, Co. Tipperary and was christened 4 May 1815 in Solohead, Co. Tipperary. He died 11 Jan 1885 in St. John's, Newfoundland, Canada.

Sponsors at John's baptism were Daniel Gavin and Catherine Gavin.

John emigrated to Newfoundland, settling in St. John's. He had an undertaking business on Carew St. and lived on Military Road.

John married Ellen POWER in 1848 in Basilica of St. John's, Newfoundland. Ellen was born in Mooncoin, Co. Kilkenny.

Nancy married Richard ENGLISH on 21 Apr 1841 in Solohead, Co. Tipperary. Richard was born 1810 in Soloheadmore, Co. Tipperary. He died before 1878 in Illinois.

Richard came from a well-to-do merchant family who disowned him when he married Nancy who came from a much poorer family. It's believed Richard and Nancy left for Newfoundland shortly after their marriage. They subsequently moved to Illinois in the United States where Richard worked as a stonecutter.

Johanna emigrated to Newfoundland.

Johanna married James BYRNE about 1859. James died in prob. Newfoundland, Canada.

James was a farmer. He and Johanna owned about 100 acres on the Topsail Road which in the 1870s was about six miles from St. John's. Their children were born between about 1860 and 1876.
