DESCENDANTS OF 'unknown' CUNNINGHAM (to contribute information, please email Helen@HelensFamilyTrees.com)

Fourth Generation

22. John CUNNINGHAM (Bryan , Myles , 'unknown' ) was born about 1851 in Kilbaha, Moyvane, Co. Kerry.

The information below on John's family may be incorrect: I was given detailed information on John and his family by a very reliable family source but when I came across their details in the 1901 census, I saw that John's mother is listed as Margaret (rather than Johanna, who had died in 1897). Furthermore John's county of birth is given as Limerick in the census whereas our John was born in Kerry. Therefore either the family listed below is not that of our John or errors were made in filling out the census form (Margaret may have been John's mother-in-law, for example). Any assistance in establishing the correct names of John's family members would be much appreciated. If you can help, please email Helen@HelensFamilyTrees.com. Thank you. For now I have added cautions to the names of John's wife and children.

John married Honora (Nora) CREGAN (caution: not verified) about 1891. Honora was born about 1859 in Co. Kerry.

John and Nora farmed at Clogough, Glin, Co. Limerick.

According to the 1911 census, John and Nora had been married for 20 years and had eight children born alive, seven of whom were alive at time of the census. All seven are listed but they don't include Johanna who I'm told by a family source emigrated to the United States. John and Nora definitely had a daughter named Johanna, born in 1897, so it's possible she died as a child. However John and Nora had another child (John, born in 1893) who appears to have died before the 1911 census, which doesn't tie in with their declaration that only one child was not alive at the time of the census.

They had the following children:

  108 M i
Bryan CUNNINGHAM (caution: not verified) was born 2 Nov 1891 in Clogough, Glin, Co. Limerick. He died in probably U.S..

Bryan emigrated to the United States.
  109 M ii
John CUNNINGHAM (caution: not verified) was born 3 Apr 1893 in Clogough, Glin, Co. Limerick. He died before 10 Feb 1899 in probably Kilbaha, Moyvane, Co. Kerry.

John died as a child.
  110 F iii
Margaret CUNNINGHAM (caution: not verified) was born about 1893 in Clogough, Glin, Co. Limerick. She died in probably U.S..

Margaret emigrated to the United States.
  111 M iv
Denis CUNNINGHAM (caution: not verified) was born 25 Jun 1894 in Clogough, Glin, Co. Limerick. He died in probably U.S..

Denis emigrated to the United States, arriving in New York on 4 March 1921. His contact in New York was his brother John who had emigrated the year before and who lived at 2437 8th Avenue.
  112 M v
Richard CUNNINGHAM (caution: not verified) was born 20 Dec 1895 in Clogough, Glin, Co. Limerick. He died in probably U.S..

Richard emigrated to the United States, arriving in New York on 3 April 1923. Acording to the ship manifest his contact in New York was his brother John who had emigrated three years earlier and who lived at 2437 8th Avenue.
  113 F vi
Johanna CUNNINGHAM (caution: not verified) was born 7 Sep 1897 in Clogough, Glin, Co. Limerick. She died probably bef 2 Apr 1911.

Johanna must have died as a child as, accordong to the 1911 census, her parents had eight children born alive, seven of whom were still alive at the time of the census; the list of seven children named in the census return does not include Johanna.
  114 F vii
John CUNNINGHAM (caution: not verified) was born 10 Feb 1899 in Clogough, Glin, Co. Limerick. She died after 1998 in U.S..

John emigrated to the United States at the age of 21, arriving in New York on 11 June 1920. His contact in New York was a cousin, Denis Cregan, who lived in Long Island City. It appears John may have been the first of seven siblings to emigrate (only one remained in Ireland).
  115 F viii
Catherine CUNNINGHAM (caution: not verified) was born 23 Jan 1901 in Clogough, Glin, Co. Limerick. She died in Glin, Co. Limerick.

Catherine was the only member of the family who didn't emigrate. She never married.
  116 M ix
Patrick (Paddy) CUNNINGHAM (caution: not verified) was born 1 Nov 1904 in Clogough, Glin, Co. Limerick. He died 4 Jun 1972 in Glin, Co. Limerick and was buried in Kilfergus Cemetery, Glin, Co. Limerick.

Paddy emigrated to the United States and retired to Glin where he died. He never married.

23. Richard (Richie) CUNNINGHAM (Bryan , Myles , 'unknown' ) was born about 2 Jun 1852 in Kilbaha, Moyvane, Co. Kerry and was christened 4 Jun 1852 in Moyvane, Co. Kerry. He died 24 Dec 1926.

The sponsor at Richie's baptism was Daniel Kearney.

Richie was also known as 'Richie Bryan'. He and his wife, Brigie, lived in Kilbaha.

The writer of a handwritten family tree on the 'Moyvane and District' page of Jer Kennelly's online album collection (see Links page on this website) tells us that "A son of this marriage [i.e., the marriage of Richie and Brigie], Myles or Sean Cunningham, settled in Killeedy, Co. Limerick and on 19th Jan. 1851 married Eliz. Dore of [what looks like] Dorriry whose grandfather, Maurice Dower, had come down to Killeedy from Gortnagloss about the same time as James Dower moved to Newtownsandes. Maurice and James may have been brothers". However, because Richie and Brigie married in 1892, no son of that marriage could have married in 1851 and because Elizabeth Dore's husband was Oliver Cunningham, it's possible Richie had a relative named Oliver Cunningham. Unfortunately I have been unsuccessful in finding out any other information on Oliver.

Richard married Brigid (Brigie) DORE, daughter of John DORE and Honora (Nora) LYNDON, on 27 Feb 1892 in Moyvane, Co. Kerry. Brigid was born about 17 Dec 1857 in Moyvane South (Shronagraga), Co. Kerry and was christened 19 Dec 1857 in Moyvane, Co. Kerry. She died 1916.

They had the following children:

+ 117 F i Mary (Molly) CUNNINGHAM was born 10 Mar 1893 and died 22 Jul 1976.
+ 118 M ii Bryan (Brianeen) CUNNINGHAM was born 10 Sep 1894 and died 21 Dec 1966.
  119 F iii
Johanna (Sr. Mary Ellen) CUNNINGHAM was born 25 Nov 1895 in Kilbaha, Moyvane, Co. Kerry and was christened 27 Nov 1895 in Moyvane, Co. Kerry. She died 13 Aug 1989 in Concordia, Kansas.

Johanna's baptismal sponsors were Michael Stack and Mary Dore.

Johanna was also known as Hannie. She and her sister, Maggie, left Ireland in 1915 to join the Sisters of St. Joseph at Nazareth Motherhouse in Concordia, Kansas.

Ellis Island records (on www.ellisisland.org) show that the sisters arrived in New York on 12 September 1915 and were joining a "cousin", Bishop John Francis Cunningham, of Concordia, Kansas. It's not known how they may have been related to the bishop, who was born on 21 September 1842 in either Irremore or the neighboring townland of Mountcoal, both located near Listowel, to John Cunningham and Catherine Fitzgerald. The family emigrated to the United States when John was 12 years of age following their eviction from their farm in Mountcoal. John was ordained a priest in Leavenworth, Kansas, in 1865 and became bishop of Concordia in 1898 He died on 23 June 1919. According to an article in the Kerryman newspaper of 23 September 1961 on the dedication of the new Church of Our Lady of Fatima and St. Senan in Irremore, a Rev. P.J. Cronin, a grandnephew of the bishop's, donated a Rosary window to the new church in memory of his granduncle. Although Sr. Mary Ellen had second cousins who were Cronins (through the marriage of her great-aunt Johanna to Tom Cronin), I have unable to figure out how, if at all, Rev. Cronin might have been related to Sr. Mary Ellen. However if Rev. Cronin were one of Sr. Mary Ellen's second cousins, it would appear he was more distantly related to the bishop than a grandnephew.

Getting back to Sr. Mary Ellen, she was a nursing sister and worked in El Paso, Texas for a time before returning to Kansas to work in St. Anthony's Hospital in Concordia.
+ 120 F iv Hanora (Nora) CUNNINGHAM was born 6 Dec 1896 and died 19 Feb 1988.
  121 F v
Margaret (Sr. Mary Estelle) CUNNINGHAM was born 17 Apr 1898 in Kilbaha, Moyvane, Co. Kerry and was christened 18 Apr 1898 in Moyvane, Co. Kerry. She died 3 Oct 1987 in Concordia, Kansas.

Margaret's baptismal sponsors were not recorded on the parish register.

Margaret was also known as Maggie. She and her sister, Hannie, left Ireland in 1915 to join the Sisters of St. Joseph at Nazareth Motherhouse in Concordia, Kansas.

Sr. Mary Estelle, who was a nursing sister, worked for more than 30 years in St. Joseph's Hospital in Belvidere, Illinois. In 1973, due to frail health, she returned to Concordia where she continued to help with nursing duties.
  122 M vi
Thomas CUNNINGHAM was born 17 Apr 1898 in Kilbaha, Moyvane, Co. Kerry and was christened 18 Apr 1898 in Moyvane, Co. Kerry.

Thomas's baptismal sponsors were not recorded on the parish register.

It appears Thomas may have died very young as we have no account of his life beyond his baptism.
  123 F vii
Ellen CUNNINGHAM was born 17 Apr 1898 in Kilbaha, Moyvane, Co. Kerry. She died 17 Apr 1898 in Kilbaha, Moyvane, Co. Kerry.

Ellen died at birth. The date of birth I have been given for her by a family source is the same date of birth given on the baptismal records of two of her siblings. Could she have been a triplet?
  124 F viii
Eileen CUNNINGHAM was born 13 Aug 1899 in Kilbaha, Moyvane, Co. Kerry. She died 19 Jan 1988 in Askeaton, Co. Limerick and was buried in Ahavoher Cemetery, Gale Bridge, Moyvane, Co. Kerry.

Eileen is listed (as Ellie) in the 1911 census return for the household of her aunt Manie Dore in Moyvane South. In 1928 Eileen emigrated to the United States and settled in New York. She never married, and retired to Listowel where she lived with her sister Bridie.

+ 125 M ix John (Jack) CUNNINGHAM was born 1 Jul 1901 and died 7 Nov 1995.
  126 F x
Bridget (Bridie) CUNNINGHAM was born 7 Apr 1904 in Kilbaha, Moyvane, Co. Kerry and was christened 9 Apr 1904 in Moyvane, Co. Kerry. She died 24 Nov 1982 in Listowel, Co. Kerry and was buried in Ahavoher Cemetery, Gale Bridge, Moyvane, Co. Kerry.

Bridie's baptismal sponsors were Jeremiah Kennelly and Elizabeth Kennelly.

Bridie was a nurse in London and later in Listowel District Hospital. In Listowel she spent many years working on night duty - she would do three months of 12-hour shifts, getting only a one or two day break before the next three-month cycle would start. Bridie lived on Court House Road in Listowel.

24. Johanna CUNNINGHAM (Bryan , Myles , 'unknown' ) was born about 17 Jun 1854 in Kilbaha, Moyvane, Co. Kerry and was christened 19 Jun 1854 in Moyvane, Co. Kerry. She died 12 Dec 1927 in Kilbaha, Moyvane, Co. Kerry and was buried in Old Cemetery, Knockanure, Co. Kerry.

The sponsor at Johanna's baptism was Edmund Hudson.

Johanna married William O'CONNOR, son of Patrick O'CONNOR / CONNORS and Mary DALTON (caution: not verified), on 12 Feb 1871 in Newtownsandes (Moyvane). William was born probably Oct 1835 in probably Dirreen Lower, Athea, Co. Limerick and was christened probably 19 Oct 1835 in probably Athea, Co. Limerick. He died Apr 1920 in probably Kilbaha, Moyvane, Co. Kerry and was buried in Old Cemetery, Knockanure, Co. Kerry.

Sponsors at William's baptism were Daniel Mullane and Johanna Casey.

William farmed in Kilbaha North.

In the 1901 census there's a return for the household of Kate O'Connor, also of Kilbaha North. She's the only one listed for the household, and her occupation is "agricultural labourer". The writing on the census is too faint to make out her age. She's not listed in the Kilbaha returns in 1911. If she wasn't related to our O'Connor family perhaps she was connected to Patrick O'Connor who moved to Kilbaha from Shronebeirne, Duagh in the mid-19th century (see notes for Patrick O'Connor, father of William above).

Marriage Notes:

Witnesses were Michael Hanrahan and Daniel Connell.

William and Johanna had the following children:

  127 M i
Patrick (Paddy Otter) O'CONNOR was born 20 Nov 1871 in Kilbaha, Moyvane, Co. Kerry and was christened 23 Nov 1871 in Moyvane, Co. Kerry. He died 9 Nov 1963 in Beenbrack, Lisaniskea, Knockanure, Co. Kerry and was buried in Old Cemetery, Knockanure, Co. Kerry.

Sponsors at Paddy's baptism were Edmund Cunningham and Honoria Cunningham.

Paddy was known as "Otter" because he had a passion for fishing. He lived into his early 90s and was still cycling up to shortly before his death.

Patrick married Hannah AHERN. Hannah was born in Moyvane, Co. Kerry. She died in probably Beenbrack or Lisaniskea, Knockanure, Co. Kerry and was buried in Old Cemetery, Knockanure, Co. Kerry.

Paddy and Hannah lived in Beenbrack in Lisaniskea, Knockanure. They had no children. The farm passed to a relative of Hannah's (perhaps a niece?) named Margaret Ahern who was married to a Joe Collins.
  128 M ii
Bryan O'CONNOR was born 5 Dec 1872 in Kilbaha, Moyvane, Co. Kerry and was christened 7 Dec 1872 in Moyvane, Co. Kerry. He died probably young.

Bryan's baptismal sponsors were Richard Cunningham and Margaret Cunningham.

There doesn't seem to be any recollection of Bryan as an adult. It's probable he died young.
+ 129 F iii Mary Anne (Mainanne) O'CONNOR was born 6 Apr 1874 and died 11 Sep 1951.
+ 130 M iv John (Jack Bill) O'CONNOR was born 25 May 1876 and died 8 Nov 1959.
+ 131 M v Edmond (Eddie or Ned) O'CONNOR was born 24 May 1877 and died 25 Mar 1960.
  132 M vi
Michael O'CONNOR was born 2 Jun 1880 in Kilbaha, Moyvane, Co. Kerry and was christened 5 Jun 1880 in Moyvane, Co. Kerry. He died 3 Mar 1912 in Kilbaha, Moyvane, Co. Kerry and was buried in Old Cemetery, Knockanure, Co. Kerry.

According to Michael's death certificate, he was aged 24 when he died in 1912, which would mean he was born in 1887 or 1888 rather than 1880. His headstone gives his age at death as 27, which would mean he was born in 1884 or 1885. Michael's baptismal record, showing his year of birth to be 1880, is the most dependable indication of date of birth (even moreso than birt certificates as births were often registered many months after the event whereas baptisms in Ireland at that time typically took place a day or two after the birth).

Michael died around the age of 30. I had been told by a family source that he died of a perforated appendix. However, according to his death certificate, he died from pneumonia.

26. Edward CUNNINGHAM (Bryan , Myles , 'unknown' ) was born about 15 Nov 1856 in Kilbaha, Moyvane, Co. Kerry and was christened 17 Nov 1856 in Moyvane, Co. Kerry. He died 11 Jan 1924 in Chicago.

Sponsors at Edward's baptism were Richard Hudson and Ellen Relihan.

Edward was educated at St. Michael's College in Listowel. He emigrated to the United States around 1896 and settled in Chicago.

Edward married 'UNKNOWN'.

They had the following children:

+ 133 M i Bernard CUNNINGHAM was born about 1903 and died date unknown.

27. Margaret CUNNINGHAM (Bryan , Myles , 'unknown' ) was born about 1 Oct 1858 in Kilbaha, Moyvane, Co. Kerry and was christened 3 Oct 1858 in Moyvane, Co. Kerry. She died 1918 in probably Kilbaha, Moyvane, Co. Kerry.

Sponsors at Margaret's baptism were William Hudson and Mary Hudson.

Margaret married John HANRAHAN, son of Patrick (Paddy) HANRAHAN and Margaret 'UNKNOWN', on 22 Feb 1887 in Moyvane, Co. Kerry. John was born about 1852. He died 1918 in probably Kilbaha, Moyvane, Co. Kerry.

John's father, Paddy, was probably a brother of Michael Hanrahan who married Margaret's aunt, also named Margaret Cunningham.

Witnesses to the marriage of Margaret and John were Myles Kearney and Kate Hanrahan. After their marriage, Margaret and John lived near the Scraghan River in the Gale Valley, just below Kilbaha. They later moved to Kilbaha.

According to the 1911 census Margaret and John had 12 children born alive, but only eight were alive in 1911 (all the children listed in the 1901 census were alive in 1911).

John and Margaret died within a week of each other in the flu epidemic of 1918.

Marriage Notes:

Witnesses were Myles Kearney and Catherine Hanrahan.

John and Margaret had the following children:

+ 134 F i Mary (Mollie) HANRAHAN was born 30 Dec 1888.
+ 135 F ii Margaret (Gretta) HANRAHAN was born 20 Dec 1889.
+ 136 F iii Johanna (Hannie) HANRAHAN was born 11 Mar 1891 and died 7 Feb 1981.
+ 137 M iv Michael (Mick) J. HANRAHAN was born 19 Apr 1892 and died 11 Jun 1967.
  138 M v
Bryan HANRAHAN was born about 1893 in Kilbaha, Moyvane, Co. Kerry.
        Bryan married Mary MCCOY
  139 M vi
Timothy (Fr. Tim) HANRAHAN was born 11 Jan 1895 in Kilbaha, Moyvane, Co. Kerry and was christened 12 Jan 1895 in Moyvane, Co. Kerry. He died 16 Oct 1935 in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania and was buried in Bonneauville, Pennsylvania.

Tim's baptismal sponsors were Daniel Barrett and Ellen Hanrahan.

Tim studied for the priesthood at St Patrick's College, Carlow and was sent to the United States in 1918 where he served in Pennsylvania. He ministered initially at St. Francis's Church, Harrisburg before moving to St. Ignatius's Church in Centralia, then to St. Joseph's in Locust Gap, Our Lady of Mount Carmel in Mount Carmel, and St. Patrick's Church in York. He subsequently spent eight years as chaplain at Mont Alto and had been pastor at St. Joseph's Church, Bonneauville for four years when he was killed in a car accident aged only 41. Tim was in a car with three other priests on their way to the consecration in Philadelphia of  Fr. L. Leech as bishop of Harrisburg. Their car was overtaking another vehicle when it crashed into a telephone pole.

  140 F vii
Catherine (Katie) HANRAHAN was born 30 Nov 1897 in Kilbaha, Moyvane, Co. Kerry and was christened 2 Dec 1897 in Moyvane, Co. Kerry.

Katie's baptismal sponsors were Patrick Shine and Mary Shine.

Catherine married Michael MULVIHILL. Michael died date unknown.

Michael and Katie lived in Coolaclarig, Listowel, Co. Kerry.
  141 M viii
John HANRAHAN was born 31 Mar 1902 in Kilbaha, Moyvane, Co. Kerry and was christened 2 Apr 1902 in Moyvane, Co. Kerry. He died before 1912.

John's baptismal sponsor was Honora Connor.
  142 F ix
Ellen (Nellie) HANRAHAN was born 20 Nov 1903 in Kilbaha, Moyvane, Co. Kerry and was christened 22 Nov 1903 in Moyvane, Co. Kerry. She died Dec 1957 in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania.

Nellie's baptismal sponsors were Daniel Shine and Ellen Shine.

Nellie emigrated to the United States in 1921, joining her brother Tim in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. Ellis Island records show that she arrived in New York on 8 November 1921, and that her occupation was a teacher.

At some point, Nellie was adopted by a family by the name of Dunn and went by the name of Hanrahan Dunn.

28. Johanna THORNTON (caution: not verified) (Honora (Norrie) CUNNINGHAM , Myles , 'unknown' ) was born about 1845 in Kilbaha, Moyvane, Co. Kerry.

From Johanna's marriage record we know her father was a James Thornton from Kilbaha but we cannot say for certain - although it's very likely - that Johanna was a daughter of Jim Thornton and Norrie Cunningham of Kilbaha, hence the caution. The children listed below are the children of the Johanna Thornton who married John Barrett in 1870. Their names were taken from the 1901 and 1911 censuses.

Johanna married John BARRETT, son of Thomas BARRETT, on 1 Mar 1870 in Moyvane, Co. Kerry. John was born in probably Dirreen, Athea, Co. Limerick.

Marriage Notes:

James Thornton of Kilbaha witnessed the marriage.

John and Johanna had the following children:

  143 M i
Thomas BARRETT was born about 1870 in Dirreen, Athea, Co. Limerick.
  144 F ii
Mary BARRETT was born about 1875 in Dirreen, Athea, Co. Limerick.
  145 iii 'unknown' BARRETT
  146 M iv
Patrick BARRETT was born about 1881 in Dirreen, Athea, Co. Limerick.
  147 F v
Hanora (Nora) BARRETT was born about 1882 in Dirreen, Athea, Co. Limerick.
  148 F vi
Catherine (Katie) BARRETT was born about 1884 in Dirreen, Athea, Co. Limerick.

30. Margaret THORNTON (caution: not verified) (Honora (Norrie) CUNNINGHAM , Myles , 'unknown' ) was born in Kilbaha, Moyvane, Co. Kerry. She died after 2 Apr 1911 in Kilbaha, Moyvane, Co. Kerry and was buried in probably Murhur Cemetery, Moyvane, Co. Kerry.

While we're sure Richard's wife's name was Margaret Thornton and that her father was a James Thornton from Kilbaha, we cannot say for certain - although it's very likely - that she was a daughter of Jim Thornton and Norrie Cunningham of Kilbaha, hence the caution.

According to the 1911 census, Richard and Margaret had been married for 36 years and had 17 children born alive, only six of whom were alive in 1911.

Margaret married Richard HUDSON, son of Edward (Edmond) HUDSON and Hanora (Nora) O'CONNOR / CONNOR, on 14 Feb 1874 in Newtownsandes (Moyvane), Co. Kerry. Richard was born about 3 Feb 1843 in Kilbaha, Newtownsandes (Moyvane), Co. Kerry and was christened 3 Feb 1843 in Moyvane, Co. Kerry. He died 26 Nov 1915 in Kilbaha, Moyvane, Co. Kerry and was buried in probably Murhur Cemetery, Moyvane, Co. Kerry.

Marriage Notes:

Witnesses were McQuin [first name not recorded] and James Harrington.

Richard and Margaret had the following children:

  149 M i
Edmond HUDSON was born 27 Dec 1874 in Kilbaha, Newtownsandes (Moyvane), Co. Kerry. He died 22 Feb 1875 in Kilbaha, Moyvane, Co. Kerry.

Edmond died of  'oppression' when he was only two months old. The duration of the illness was two days.
+ 150 F ii Mary Anne HUDSON was born 27 Apr 1876 and died 26 Nov 1912 or shortly thereafter.
+ 151 F iii Hanora (Nora) HUDSON was born 3 Aug 1877 and died 20 Feb 1937.
+ 152 M iv John (Jack) HUDSON was born 28 Nov 1878 and died 21 Jul 1960.
  153 M v
Richard HUDSON was born 6 Jul 1880 in Kilbaha, Moyvane, Co. Kerry and was christened 8 Jul 1880 in Moyvane, Co. Kerry. He died 1908 in England.

Sponsors at Richard's baptism were Thomas Riordan and Honora Thornton.

Richard was a policeman in England and died of pneumonia as a young man. He wasn't married.
+ 154 M vi James HUDSON was born 29 May 1883 and died 1947.
+ 155 F vii Margaret (Maggie) HUDSON was born 13 Feb 1884 and died 26 Aug 1962.
+ 156 F viii Johanna (Hannie) HUDSON was born 31 Dec 1888 and died 7 Jul 1961.

32. Catherine (Kate) THORNTON (caution: not verified) (Honora (Norrie) CUNNINGHAM , Myles , 'unknown' ) was born about 1853 in probably Kilbaha, Moyvane, Co. Kerry. She died between 31 Mar 1901 and 2 Apr 1911 in probably Kilbaha, Moyvane, Co. Kerry.

We're sure that Dan Kennelly was married to a Kate Thornton from Kilbaha whose father's name was James. However we cannot say for certain that Kate was a daughter of our Jim Thornton and his wife, Norrie, although Jim's children and Kate were born in Kilbaha around the same time. My own feeling is that Kate was indeed a daughter of Jim and Norrie.

Catherine married Daniel (Dan) KENNELLY, son of John KENNELLY and Bridget KIRBY, on 17 Feb 1876 in Moyvane, Co. Kerry. Daniel was born about 8 Jun 1842 in Kilbaha, Moyvane, Co. Kerry and was christened 10 Jun 1842 in Moyvane, Co. Kerry. He died after 2 Apr 1911.

Marriage Notes:

Witnesses were John Kennelly and Richard Hudson.

Daniel and Catherine had the following children:

  157 M i
John KENNELLY was born 16 Jun 1877 in Kilbaha, Moyvane, Co. Kerry and was christened 17 Jun 1877 in Moyvane, Co. Kerry.

Baptismal sponsors were Patrick Ryan and Johanna Kennelly.
  162 M vi
James KENNELLY was born about 1887 in probably Kilbaha, Moyvane, Co. Kerry.

James emigrated to the United States, arriving in New York on 25 August 1909. According to the ship manifest he was joining a cousin, William Ryan, of the Hotel Egan, 79 Grand St., New York.
  163 M vii
William KENNELLY was born about 1888 in probably Kilbaha, Moyvane, Co. Kerry.

33. Myles THORNTON (Honora (Norrie) CUNNINGHAM , Myles , 'unknown' ) was born about 25 Nov 1856 in Kilbaha, Moyvane, Co. Kerry and was christened 27 Nov 1856 in Moyvane, Co. Kerry. He died 7 Apr 1930.

Sponsors at Myles's baptism were Daniel Kearney and Johanna Cunningham.

Myles was a fine flute-player. He was also a dancing teacher and an All-Ireland step-dancing champion.

Myles married Mary MCAULIFFE, daughter of Lawrence MCAULIFFE and Catherine WRIGHT, about 1899. Mary was born 1877 in probably Athea area, Co. Limerick. She died 28 Jan 1950.

Myles and Mary lived in Kilbaha.

They had the following children:

  164 F i
