We can trace our Butler family back to George Butler (born about 1795) who was a musical instrument maker in Dublin. About 1830 he moved to London where he opened a musical instrument shop in Covent Garden and later in Haymarket. George and his Dublin-born wife, Margaret Nead, had nine children, including Elizabeth whose grandson is pictured below.
