Francis Xavier Lavin, born in Ardgallagher, Kilmore, Co. Roscommon in 1890, was one of the 12 children of Patrick Lavin and Jane O'Hara. He was a brother of Fr. Damian O'Hara (see previous photo). 

In 1828 he married Agnes Callery of Coolmeen, Elphin, Co. Roscommon and they had four children. Francis, who was a sales representative for a veterinary supply company, died in 1935 aged only 44.

Francis's son Patrick has done extensive research into his family tree resulting in the publication in 2008 of a book entitled "Ancestral Quest, Tracing my Ancestors in Ireland". The work is a detailed family history not only of the Lavins and the Callerys but also of the Flynns of Kilbride, Co. Roscommon and the O'Haras of Cootehall, Co. Roscommon.
