Philip Hussey, son of James Hussey and Jane Butler and grandson of builder Thomas Hussey, was born in Hammersmith in London in 1894. He worked for The London, Brighton and South Coast Railway prior to joining the British Army during World War I as a rifleman in the Queen's Westminster regiment. He died in June 1916 at the age of 22 from wounds sustained in the Battle of the Somme. Philip's injuries hadn't been life-threatening, but conditions were such that he developed gangrene and he died in a British army hospital in Rouen. He is buried in Rouen in St-Sever Cemetery.
Philip was a nephew of Harry Hussey and a first cousin of Robert and Philip Hussey (see previous photos). In fact he was a double first cousin of Robert and Laurence as his father and theirs, who were brothers, married two sisters, Mary and Jane Butler.
