We have traced our O’Sullivan family back to James, known as Séamus, and Michael Sullivan (our family used the Sullivan rather than the O’Sullivan name until the early 20th century) who were probably brothers and who were probably born in the first half of the 19th century in Caheraveelane, Kilshannig, Co. Cork. Séamus settled in Glynn, Mourneabbey, Co. Cork as a young man, and all we know of Michael is that his son Michael lived in Charleville, Co. Cork prior to moving to Cork city.
