We can trace our Ryan family back to Loughlin Ryan, born in 1824, who was headmaster of Garryhill National School in Co. Carlow and who married Bridget Nolan. The only child of theirs that we know of was Malachy, who married Mary Murphy. Malachy and Mary lived in Garryhill where they raised six children, including Mary pictured below.
