Our Shanahans are descended from John Shanahan (born about 1820) of Kilbaha, Newtownsandes (now named Moyvane), Co. Kerry. John married Catherine Woulfe and they had six children: Richard, Patrick, Bridget, Mary, Ellie and a child whose name is unknown to us.
