56. Mary Anne (Mainanne) O'CONNOR "Mainanne" (Johanna CUNNINGHAM , Bryan CUNNINGHAM , Johanna ) was born 19 Apr 1874 in Kilbaha, Moyvane, Co. Kerry. She died 11 Sep 1951 in Clounprohus, Moyvane, Co. Kerry and was buried in Listowel, Co. Kerry.

Mainanne married William (Bill) FINUCANE in 1899. William was born 1869. He died 23 Sep 1957 and was buried in Listowel, Co. Kerry.

There's an entry in Griffiths Valuation (carried out in 1851 for North Kerry) for a John Finucane of Clounprohus, where Bill and Mainanne had their farm. It's likely John and Bill were related; perhaps John was Bill's father.

Note that there's no documented blood connection between Bill and his wife's great-grandmother, Margaret Finucane (who married Richard Hudson). However I've been told the Finucanes of Kilcolgan, near Ballylongford, are related to Margaret ("fourth cousins of some type") and are very distantly related to Bill, although the exact connection to Bill isn't known.

57. John (Jack Bill) O'CONNOR (Johanna CUNNINGHAM , Bryan CUNNINGHAM , Johanna ) was born 23 May 1876 in Kilbaha, Moyvane, Co. Kerry. He died 8 Nov 1959 in prob Kilbaha, Moyvane, Co. Kerry and was buried in Old Cemetery, Knockanure, Co. Kerry.

Jack Bill ran the O'Connor family farm.

John married Catherine (Babe) SHANAHAN, daughter of Richard SHANAHAN and Catherine (Katie) NOLAN, on 4 Mar 1916 in Newtownsandes (Moyvane), Co. Kerry. Catherine was born 14 Nov 1891 in Kilbaha, Moyvane, Co. Kerry. She died 24 Jan 1986 in Co. Kerry and was buried in Old Cemetery, Knockanure, Co. Kerry.

Babe was only about 13 when her mother died. She helped raise her younger siblings.

Marriage Notes:

Witnesses to the marriage of Jack Bill and Babe were Patrick Finucane and Ellie Shanahan (probably Babe's sister).

According to their son, Dick, the marriage of Jack Bill and Babe was arranged, a practice common at the time.

58. Edmond (Eddie or Ned) O'CONNOR (Johanna CUNNINGHAM , Bryan CUNNINGHAM , Johanna ) was born 24 May 1877 in Kilbaha, Moyvane, Co. Kerry. He died 25 Mar 1960 in prob. Sallowglen, Tarbert, Co. Kerry and was buried in Old Cemetery, Knockanure, Co. Kerry.

Edmond married Mary FLAVIN. Mary died 18 Jan 1942 in prob. Sallowglen, Tarbert, Co. Kerry and was buried in Old Cemetery, Knockanure, Co. Kerry.

Ned and Mary lived in Sallowglen, near Tarbert.

69. Bernard CUNNINGHAM (Edward CUNNINGHAM , Bryan CUNNINGHAM , Johanna ) was born about 1903 in prob. Chicago. He died date unknown.

Bernard's godmother was Clara Johnson (née Hudson), daughter of Jeremiah Hudson and first cousin of Bernard's father.

Bernard was an accountant. He lived on South Morgan St. in Chicago.

70. Mary (Molly) CUNNINGHAM (Richard (Richie) CUNNINGHAM , Bryan CUNNINGHAM , Johanna ) was born 10 Mar 1893 in Kilbaha, Moyvane, Co. Kerry. She died 22 Jul 1976 in Tralee, Co. Kerry and was buried in Ahavoher Cemetery, Gale Bridge, Moyvane, Co. Kerry.

After they married, Jim and Molly lived on the Dore family farm in Moyvane South (Molly's mother was a Dore). Jim was a skilled farmer. He used to kill his own and his neighbours' pigs. He also had great expertise with cattle, and was a hard worker, managing to increase the capacity of the farm from 18 to 40 milch cows, with the assistance in later years of his son Dick and daughter Bridie.   

Mary married James (Jim) STACK, son of Thomas (Tom) STACK and Ellen (Ellie) SHANAHAN, in Apr 1921. James was born 3 Sep 1896 in Ballygoughlan, Glin, Co. Limerick. He died 17 Jul 1965 and was buried in Murhur Cemetery, Moyvane, Co. Kerry.

71. Bryan (Brianeen) CUNNINGHAM (Richard (Richie) CUNNINGHAM , Bryan CUNNINGHAM , Johanna ) was born 10 Sep 1894 in Kilbaha, Moyvane, Co. Kerry. He died 21 Dec 1966 in Kilbaha, Moyvane, Co. Kerry and was buried in Ahavoher Cemetery, Gale Bridge, Moyvane, Co. Kerry.

Bryan married Noreen (J.D.) KEANE about 1935. Noreen was born in Islandanny, Duagh, Co. Kerry. She died 15 May 1971 and was buried in Ahavoher Cemetery, Gale Bridge, Moyvane, Co. Kerry.

I'm told of a J.D. Keane who was born in Pilgrim Hill, Duagh to Daniel Keane and his second wife Johanna McCarthy. This is likely to be our J.D. above. Further information on the Keane family of Pilgrim Hill (who had origins in Ballygrennan, Listowel) is available in Kevin O'Connor's book 'The Descendants of the O'Connors of Carrigafoyle Stemming from the Datheenachs Line' (2006). 73. Hanora (Nora) CUNNINGHAM (Richard (Richie) CUNNINGHAM , Bryan CUNNINGHAM , Johanna ) was born 3 Mar 1897 in Kilbaha, Moyvane, Co. Kerry. She died 19 Feb 1988 in Beale, Ballybunion, Co. Kerry.

Hanora married Henry MCMAHON in 1933. Henry was born in Beale, Ballybunion, Co. Kerry. He died 16 Apr 1974.

Henry and Nora farmed at Beale Hill, Ballybunion. Henry's brother, Fr. Michael (Monsr.) died at The Dalles, Oregon, USA, on 10 July 1973. Another brother, Ted, died in Beale on 23 October 1976, and his sister Kate died in Beale on 14 April 1967. Both Ted and Kate were unmarried and lived on the farm with Nora and Henry.

77. John (Jack) CUNNINGHAM (Richard (Richie) CUNNINGHAM , Bryan CUNNINGHAM , Johanna ) was born 1 Jul 1901 in Kilbaha, Moyvane, Co. Kerry. He died 7 Nov 1995 in the Bronx, New York.

Jack emigrated to the United States in 1925. He was known as 'Black Jack' because of the colour of his hair in his youth.

John married Nora BAKER in 1941 in prob New York. Nora was born in Ballinluchig, Dingle, Co. Kerry. She died before 7 Nov 1995 in the Bronx, New York.

Nora and Jack lived in the Bronx.

81. Johanna (Hannie) HANRAHAN (Margaret CUNNINGHAM , Bryan CUNNINGHAM , Johanna ) was born 11 Mar 1891 in Kilbaha, Moyvane, Co. Kerry. She died 7 Feb 1981 and was buried in Ahavoher Cemetery, Gale Bridge, Moyvane, Co. Kerry.

Hannie was also known as "Hannie John Paddy" (because her father's name was John and her grandfather's name was Paddy).

Johanna married Edmond (Ned) HUDSON, son of William HUDSON and Johanna HAYES, in 1921. Edmond was born 20 Mar 1881 in Kilbaha, Moyvane, Co. Kerry. He died 23 Dec 1969 in Kilbaha, Moyvane, Co. Kerry and was buried in Ahavoher Cemetery, Gale Bridge, Moyvane, Co. Kerry.

Ned and his wife, Hannie, were second cousins - Hannie's grandmother was Johanna Hudson, sister of Ned's grandfather, Edmond Hudson.

82. Michael (Mick) HANRAHAN (Margaret CUNNINGHAM , Bryan CUNNINGHAM , Johanna ) was born about 1891 in poss Kilbaha, Moyvane, Co. Kerry. He died 11 Jun 1967 and was buried in Ahavoher Cemetery, Gale Bridge, Moyvane, Co. Kerry.

Mick was also known as "Mickeen John Paddy" (because his father was John and his grandfather was Paddy). He was well known in the area for his ability to cure ringworm, this knowledge apparently having been passed down to him by his father. When people would come to him with ringworm, he would apply to the skin a mixture made up mostly of unsalted butter, but nobody knows what he put into the butter to make the cure.

Michael married Bridget SHANAHAN, daughter of Richard SHANAHAN and Catherine (Katie) NOLAN. Bridget was born 7 Apr 1895 in Kilbaha, Moyvane, Co. Kerry. She died 4 Feb 1949 and was buried in Murher Cemetery, Moyvane, Co. Kerry.

Bridget was only about 51 years of age when she died.

100. Bridget (Pidge) KEARNEY "Pidge" (Myles KEARNEY , Ellen CUNNINGHAM , Johanna ) was born about 1905 in Kilbaha, Moyvane, Co. Kerry. She died 5 Jan 1995 in Moyvane, Co. Kerry and was buried in Ahavoher Cemetery, Gale Bridge, Moyvane, Co. Kerry.

Pidge married John (Johnny) HOLLY "Johnny", son of Denis HOLLY and Ellie FLAHERTY. Johnny was born about 1911. He died 4 Mar 1991 and was buried in Ahavoher Cemetery, Gale Bridge, Moyvane, Co. Kerry.

Johnny and Pidge ran a grocery shop and hackney business in Moyvane village.

105. Patrick (Paddy) Anthony KEARNEY (Myles KEARNEY , Ellen CUNNINGHAM , Johanna ) was born about 1913 in Main St., Moyvane, Co. Kerry. He died 30 Jul 2005 in Chingford, London.

Paddy lived in London.
