Note from Helen: Although neither my husband nor I are descended from Alexander, Alexander's son John married my husband’s grandaunt Lizzie Gordon. In the course of my research into the Gordon family, I came across valuable information on the McDonnell family, hence its inclusion on the website.

Alexander married Ellen KENNY. Ellen was born about 1820 in Orlar, Kilmovee, Co. Mayo. She died 3 Aug 1908 and was buried in Dominican Abbey Monastery, Orlar, Kilmovee, Co. Mayo.
