16. Catherine (Babe) SHANAHAN (Catherine (Katie) NOLAN , Joseph ) was born 10 Nov 1891 in Kilbaha, Moyvane, Co. Kerry and was christened 14 Nov 1891 in Moyvane, Co. Kerry. She died 24 Jan 1986 in Lisaniskea, Knockanure, Co. Kerry and was buried in Old Cemetery, Knockanure, Co. Kerry.

Babe's baptismal sponsors were Nicholas Madden and Mary Collins.

Babe was only about 13 when her mother died. She helped raise her younger siblings.

Catherine married John (Jack Bill) O'CONNOR, son of William O'CONNOR and Johanna CUNNINGHAM, on 4 Mar 1916 in Newtownsandes (Moyvane), Co. Kerry. John was born 25 May 1876 in Kilbaha, Moyvane, Co. Kerry and was christened 5 Jun 1876 in Moyvane, Co. Kerry. He died 8 Nov 1959 in probably Kilbaha, Moyvane, Co. Kerry and was buried in Old Cemetery, Knockanure, Co. Kerry.

The sponsors at Jack Bill's baptism were (what appears to be) William Hanrahan and Johanna Hanrahan.

Jack Bill ran the O'Connor family farm.

Marriage Notes:

Witnesses to the marriage of Jack Bill and Babe were Patrick Finucane and Ellie Shanahan (probably Babe's sister).

According to their son Dick, the marriage of Jack Bill and Babe was arranged, a practice common at the time.

Jack was a well-known cattle breeder. He and Mary lived in Lisaniskea, Knockanure, Co. Kerry.

Hannah (Sr. Patricia) O'CONNOR was born 19 May 1921 in Kilbaha, Moyvane, Co. Kerry. She died 29 Dec 2008 in Cork and was buried 31 Dec 2008 in St. Oliver's Cemetery, Cork.

Sr. Patricia was a sister in the Bon Secours order. She lived in Cork.

17. Ellen (Ellie) SHANAHAN (Catherine (Katie) NOLAN , Joseph ) was born 4 Aug 1893 in Kilbaha, Moyvane, Co. Kerry and was christened 5 Aug 1893 in Moyvane, Co. Kerry. She died 19 Apr 1991 in Drommurhur, Moyvane, Co. Kerry and was buried in Ahavoher Cemetery, Gale Bridge, Moyvane, Co. Kerry.

Ellie's baptismal sponsors were Edward Stack and Mary Woulfe.

Ellen married Robert (Bob) STACK, son of 'unknown' STACK and Sarah 'UNKNOWN'. Robert was born about 1886 in Drommurhur, Moyvane, Co. Kerry. He died 20 Nov 1957 in Drommurhur, Moyvane, Co. Kerry and was buried in Knockanure Cemetery, Co. Kerry.

Ellie and Bob farmed in Drommurhur (also spelled Dromurhur), Moyvane.

They had the following children:

Bridget's baptismal sponsors were Martin Collins and Mary Collins.

Bridget was only about 51 years of age when she died.

Bridget married Michael (Mick) J. HANRAHAN, son of John HANRAHAN and Margaret CUNNINGHAM. Michael was born 19 Apr 1892 in Kilbaha, Moyvane, Co. Kerry and was christened 21 Apr 1892 in Moyvane, Co. Kerry. He died 11 Jun 1967 and was buried in Ahavoher Cemetery, Gale Bridge, Moyvane, Co. Kerry.

Mick's baptismal sponsors were Michael Moran and Honora Moran.

Mick was also known as "Mickeen John Paddy" (because his father was John and his grandfather was Paddy). He was well known in the area for his ability to cure ringworm, this knowledge apparently having been passed down to him by his father. When people would come to him with ringworm, he would apply to the skin a mixture made up mostly of unsalted butter, but nobody knows what he put into the butter to make the cure.

Kerry and was christened 31 Oct 1907 in Moyvane, Co. Kerry. She died 10 Aug 2001 in Kilbaha, Moyvane, Co. Kerry and was buried in Ahavoher Cemetery, Gale Bridge, Moyvane, Co. Kerry.

John and Winnie lived in Kilbaha, Moyvane.
