2. Thomas SULLIVAN (Caution: relationship to Daniel not verified) ('unknown' ) was born about 1834 in prob. Caheraveelane, Kilshannig, Co. Cork. He died 13 Nov 1918 and was buried in Donoughmore Cemetery, Co. Cork.

It's pure speculation that Thomas and Daniel were brothers. It thought that Thomas's mother's name was Johanna; and Daniel's mother's name in the 1901 census is given as Johanna. Of course this is no proof at all that they were brothers.

Thomas married Letitia DAUNT BUSTEED, daughter of Henry Thomas DAUNT BUSTEED and Mary Letitia DAUNT, on 28 Nov 1868 in Donoughmore, Co. Cork. Letitia was born 1846 in poss. Carrigaline, Co. Cork.

The Busteeds were a prosperous Protestant family from Carrigaline. There was much inter-marriage over the generations between the Busteeds and the Daunts, another prominent Protestant local family who, like the Busteeds, were believed to have come to Co. Cork from Gloucestershire in England in the 15th century.

Leticia ran away from home to marry Thomas and her family disowned her as a result. She converted to Catholicism upon her marriage.

3. Daniel SULLIVAN (Caution: relationship to Thomas not verified) ('unknown' ) was born about 1842 in prob. Caheraveelane, Co. Cork.

Daniel above may not be the brother of Thomas. It's believed that Thomas had only one brother but his name isn't known. It's also believed that Thomas's brother married a widow with children but that he and his wife didn't have any children of their own. This doesn't tie in with Daniel above who had 10 children with his wife.

We know from Daniel's marriage certificate that his father was also named Daniel. It's possible therefore that Daniel's first-born son was Daniel rather than Timothy below, following the tradition of the time of naming the first son after his paternal grandfather. There's no Daniel listed among Daniel's and Hannah's children in the 1901 census return for their household. Assuming there was a son named Daniel, it would be surprising if he had moved because it was he who would most likely have inherited the farm. He may have died young, or just wasn't at home on the night of the census.

Daniel married Johanna (Hannah) MURPHY "Hannah", daughter of Timothy MURPHY, on 29 Jan 1878 in Stuake Chapel, Donoughmore, Co. Cork. Hannah was born about 1854 in prob. Meenahony, Donoughmore, Co. Cork.

Witnesses to the marriage of Hannah and Daniel were David Wiseman and Timothy Scanlon.
