73. Jeremiah (Jerry) O'SULLIVAN (Denis O'SULLIVAN , James (Big Jim) , James (Séamus) , 'unknown' ) was born in Kilquane, Mourneabbey, Co. Cork. He died in Australia and was buried in Rookwood Cemetery, Homebush, Sydney.

Prior to emigrating to Australia Jerry had a successful boxing career in Britain, knocking out his opponent in the first round in 21 consecutive fights and earning himself the nickname 'One Round Sully'. Among his sparring partners were champions Freddie Mills and Dick Turpin. He later decided to join his two brothers, Jim and Eugene, cutting cane on the farm of their uncle Eugene (O'Sullivan) in far north Queensland.

Jerry eventually moved to Sydney where he established a successful painting and decorating business, employing many young Irish men who had come to Australia looking for work in the 1950s. He was very well known within the Irish community in Sydney and organised charity fundraisers for Sydney's homeless men. Jim and Eugene, Jerry's brothers, had also moved to Sydney where they too ran a thriving painting business.
