The farthest back I have been able to trace my Treacy family is to Soloheadbeg, Co. Tipperary. However, it is possible they came originally from the Kilfeacle area, about 15km away. The reason I say this is because the family used the Kilfeacle cemetery for burials rather than the local Solohead churchyard. For example, John and Nicholas, grandson of 'unknown' above are buried in Kilfeacle.
The Treacy surname is common throughout the country, especially the south east. It is derived from 'O Treasaigh', meaning 'warlike'.
