2. Richard SHANAHAN (Catherine ) was born about 1848 in Kilbaha, Moyvane, Co. Kerry. He died 3 Apr 1924 in Kilbaha, Moyvane, Co. Kerry and was buried in Murher Cemetery, Moyvane, Co. Kerry.

Richard married Catherine (Katie) NOLAN, daughter of Joseph NOLAN and Catherine HEALY (Caution: not verified), on 23 Feb 1889 in Ballylongford, Co. Kerry. Catherine was born about 1868 in prob Leanamore, Ballylongford, Co. Kerry. She died 16 Oct 1904 in Kilbaha, Moyvane, Co. Kerry and was buried in Murher Cemetery, Moyvane, Co. Kerry.

Katie was only 36 when she died. According to her death certificate, the cause of death was "phthisis", which is a wasting disease of which tuberculosis is a form. She had been ill for a year.

Richard and Catherine had the following children:

John SHANAHAN was born 23 Dec 1897 in Kilbaha, Moyvane, Co. Kerry.

John, who was disabled and who probably died young, was born in December 1897. However there was already a John in the family, born in October 1896. Perhaps it was the John who died young who was born in 1896, with the other John born in 1897 after the death of the first John. Further checking would need to be carried out.

According to the 1911 census returns for the Shanahan household, the number of children born alive was four and the number of children still living was four. There's only one John listed in the returns; in 1901 he was aged five, and in 1911 he was l4. A birth certificate for a John Shanahan born around 23 December 1897 was sought but not located; a birth certificate for the John born on 22 October 1896 WAS located.

4. Bridget SHANAHAN (Catherine )

Bridget married 'unknown' O'SULLIVAN. 'unknown' was born in poss. Knockanure, Co. Kerry.

They had the following children:

Teresa married Patrick (Paddy) SHEEHY "Paddy", son of 'unknown' SHEEHY. Paddy was born in Glenalappa, Moyvane, Co. Kerry. He died date unknown.

Paddy and Teresa lived in the Duagh area. Paddy was a brother of Jim, the husband of Teresa's sister Kathleen.

5. Mary SHANAHAN (Catherine ) was born in Kilbaha, Moyvane, Co. Kerry. She died date unknown.

Mary married William (Bill) COLLINS. William died date unknown.

Mary and Bill lived near Moyvane.

They had the following children:

John COLLINS was born 1869 in prob. Ahalahana, Moyvane, Co. Kerry. He died 1936 in Melbourne, Australia.

John became a priest.

'unknown' COLLINS (male) was born in prob. Ahalahana, Moyvane, Co. Kerry. He died date unknown.

This son of Bill and Mary also became a priest.

7. Ellen (Ellie) SHANAHAN "Ellie" (Catherine ) was born 1859 in Kilbaha, Moyvane, Co. Kerry. She died 15 Oct 1903 in prob. Ballygoughlan, Glin, Co. Limerick and was buried in Murhur Cemetery, Moyvane, Co. Kerry.

Ellie was Tom's second wife, Tom's first wife, Nora (Nano) Kennelly, having died in childbirth along with the twins she was carrying.

Ellie married Thomas (Tom) STACK, son of Edmund STACK and Mary O'CONNOR / CONNOR, on 10 Feb 1884. Thomas was born 1855 in prob. the Hill, Gortdromasillihy, Moyvane, Co. Kerry. He died 22 Jul 1909 in prob. Ballygoughlan, Glin, Co. Limerick and was buried in Murhur Cemetery, Moyvane, Co. Kerry.

They had the following children:

+ 22 M ii Edward/Edmond (Ned) STACK was born 17 Feb 1886 and died 8 Dec 1939.

John STACK was born 1888 in Ballygoughlan, Glin, Co. Limerick. He died 28 Sep 1918 and was buried in Murhur Cemetery, Moyvane, Co. Kerry.

John worked on the family farm in Ballygoughlan. He was only about 30 years of age when he died. He was unmarried.

Hanora (Nora, Sr. Evangelist) STACK "Nora, Sr. Evangelist" was born 25 Mar 1893 in Ballygoughlan, Glin, Co. Limerick. She died 21 Dec 1977 in poss Listowel, Co. Kerry.

Nora was a Mercy sister, professed on 19 September 1935, and was a hospital matron in Listowel, Co. Kerry.

+ 29 M ix James (Jim) STACK was born 3 Sep 1896 and died 17 Jul 1965.

Patrick (Fr. Paddy) STACK "Paddy" was born 6 Sep 1899 in Ballygoughlan, Glin, Co. Limerick. He died 3 Mar 1984 in prob. California, USA.

Paddy was ordained a priest in Freiburg in Germany. He later served as a parish priest in California.
