Jones

Our Jones family most likely had British origins but our branch settled in Co. Kerry. Thanks to DNA matching, it appears that Joe’s 3rd great-grandmother Catherine Jones (c.1798-1874) was closely related to a John Jones (c.1795-1880) of Kielduff (also spelled Kilduff), Ballymacelligott, Tralee, Co. Kerry. It may be that they were siblings but Catherine appears to have been Catholic while John’s family was Protestant. Further investigation is therefore required.

Catherine married Kerry-born and Catholic Michael Devine around 1820 before moving to London a couple of years later. They and their children lived initially in the parish of St. Giles before settling in Kensington. We have no pictures of any member of the Jones family, but if you have any photos of the family that you would like to share, I would be delighted to hear from you. Please email any pictures to HelensFamilyTrees@gmail.com. Many thanks in advance.
