It is believed our McDonald family came from the Knocklonogad area of Garryhill, Co. Carlow where Joe’s great-great-grandmother Mary McDonald was likely born around 1820. Her parents may have been Thomas McDonald and Bridget Power. Mary married John Murphy and they raised nine children in Knocklonogad.
