Woulfe
My Woulfe family came from the parish of Athea, Co. Limerick, probably from the townland of Cratloe as I have been DNA-matched by Ancestry with members of a number of branches of Cratloe Woulfes. However, I have only managed to trace my Woulfe ancestry back with any certainty to my great-great-grandmother Mary Woulfe, born around 1820 in Athea. Mary married John Shanahan in 1840; they had nine children and lived in Kilbaha, Newtownsandes (now Moyvane), Co. Kerry. Based on my DNA connections, it appears Mary was descended from Maurice James Woulfe (c.1630-c.1700) of Athea, who may have been a 3rd-great-grandfather of hers.
