Ryan

Our Ryan family can be traced back to Joe’s 3rd great-grandfather Thomas Ryan who was married to Bridget Healy. It appears Thomas and Bridget were the parents of Joe’s great-great-grandfather Loughlin Ryan, born in 1822, who was headmaster of Garryhill National School in Co. Carlow. He was the husband of Bridget Nolan, with whom he had at least one child that we know of, Malachy. Malachy and his wife, Mary (née Murphy), lived in Garryhill where they raised six children.
